PSI (1990 - 1996)

"Bold and melodic guitar driven rock", naming PSI one of the Top 10 College Bands of 1996.

We thought of our sound affectionately as a "wall of sound."  And we literally bought amps intended for use in stadiums for our private gigs and gigs around town.  But PSI also had a "softer side" - you might think of it more like the eye of a storm, a momentary calm just before the sonic boom gets you.  But it was riff and rock based, not heavy, thrash or speed metal which (besides probably being too difficult for us to play on guitar) didn't have the finesse we dug.  We were listening to stuff from Jane's Addiction, to Smashing Pumpkins (mostly their first album, "Gish", and not all that sell out pop rock they produced later),  to stuff like Urge Overkill and Fishbone and we all loved Indecision (local Charlottesville fav).  PSI members included Steve "Weevie" Schmitz (drums), later replaced by my brother, Stephen Hund (drums) when Weevie moved North for college, Gary McLaughlin (bass), Steve Wright (guitar, vocals), and me (guitar vocals).
